My four-year-decided to get sick right in the middle of me preparing the Island Packet's annual Today's Woman special section. Thankfully, the ever-reassuring Dr. Alicia Salyer at Palmetto Pediatrics told me he'll be fine in a few days. Now I can concentrate on work: I need nominations of "remarkable Lowcountry women" for this section. The nomination period closes Sept. 2, and then myself and other editors will choose a diverse group to be featured in print. The requirements are: nominees must live south of the Broad River, and should be active in the community in some way. "Remarkable" means something different to each person, so the sky's the limit. Today I feel "remarkable" for making it to work at all.
